Jucy Lucys

    21 min

This was a recipe I picked up from a trip to America. I'm aware "Jucy" is spelt wrong. There is a reason for this! This takes the traditional normal boring beef burger and really adds an extra layer and surprise.

    Tyne and Wear, England, UK
    7 people made this

    Serves: 4

    • 8 beef burgers (purchased from a butcher)
    • 200g provolone cheese

    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:6min  ›  Ready in:21min

    1. Go to your local butchers and purchase freshly made burgers.
    2. Cut the provolone cheese (or cheese of your chose) into small squares about the size of two finger tips combined.
    3. Place and pile your cheese of choice into the centre of one of the burgers.
    4. Take another burger and place it on top of the other with the cheese on and gently combine them together to sort of make a burger pie.
    5. Cook 4 minutes on each side on a hot BBQ to create the perfect "jucy lucy".

I was a little dissapointed when the recipe was in fact purchased burgers with cheese topping not really a recipe  -  26 Sep 2011

Watch the cooking time on this recipe. Depending on the thickness of your patties it may take quite a bit more time than 4 minutes for each side. I started the burgers off over direct heat, a few minutes on each side and then moved to indirect heat to finish.  -  09 Feb 2015
