Julie's free range custard

    Custard to pour over apple pie or anything you like really! This custard is made best with the freshest free-range eggs you can find!

    Serves: 6 

    • 600ml (1 pint) whole milk
    • 2 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 4 egg yolks
    • 1 teaspoon cornflour (dissolved in a little water)
    • 2 tablespoons cream

    1. In a heavy bottom saucepan heat milk gently, add sugar and allow to dissolve - DO NOT allow to boil.
    2. Add the beaten egg yolks, whisking constantly.
    3. Add cornflour dissolved in water if you feel mixture is not thick enough. Cook for 2 minutes stirring all the time.
    4. Remove from the heat, whip in the cream, and serve!


    You can add or decrease the sugar according to taste!
