Chocolate topped flapjacks

    These moreish chocolate and dried fruit treats will be loved by all. Great with a cuppa or ideal for kids' packed lunches.

    Makes: 18 flapjacks

    • 225g butter
    • 200g runny honey
    • 200g golden syrup
    • 600g oats
    • 300g mixed fruit peel
    • 250g dark chocolate

    1. Preheat the oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
    2. Heat the butter in a pan. When it's melted, add the honey and golden syrup.
    3. Stir in the oats and mixed fruit peel, and mix the whole lot together until it feels harder to mix. If it's still a bit loose, add more oats.
    4. Put the mixture in a lined baking tin, spread and press the mixture out all even.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.
    6. While your flapjacks are cooking, heat chocolate in a bowl over a pan of hot water add a little boiled water to it (about 3 tablespoons).
    7. Once your flapjacks have cooked, pour the chocolate over them and place the tin in the fridge to harden the chocolate.
    8. Once set and hardened, cut into rectangular slices and serve.
