About this recipe: Loaded with oats and wheatgerm, this wholesome wheat loaf is sweetened with honey. It's also easy to make, made in the bread machine.

Serves: 10 

  • 150g (5 oz) bread flour
  • 150g (5 oz) wholemeal flour
  • 4 tablespoons porridge oats
  • 2 tablespoons wheatgerm
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 200ml (7 fl oz) semi skimmed milk
  • 100ml (4 fl oz) water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried active baking yeast

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:3hr  ›  Ready in:3hr5min 

  1. Place ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer. Select the multigrain setting, and press Start.

This recipe is excellent, the bread is delicious and comes out of the breadmaker perfectly every time. I found it as I was looking for a recipe with wheatgerm, as it contains a lot of Vitamin E which is good for wound healing (post operative in my case) so this recipe is perfect. Good to know that something so delicious can also be good for you. - 08 May 2010
