Gammon steaks with pineapple sauce

    Grilled gammon steaks with homemade pineapple sauce. Serve with chips and veg! This is quick and easy.

    Serves: 4 

    • 4 unsmoked gammon steaks
    • 50ml water
    • 4 tablespoons light brown soft sugar
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons tomato sauce or ketchup
    • 340g undrained crushed pineapple
    • 2 1/3 tablespoons cornflour
    • 100ml water (which is needed near the end)

    1. Preheat the grill, then grill the gammon steaks for at least 5 minutes on each side.
    2. Meanwhile, in a saucepan combine the 50ml water, brown sugar, soy sauce, ketchup and pineapple. Bring to the boil. Simmer for 10 minutes.
    3. Combine cornflour and the 100ml water until smooth, stir into pineapple sauce. Bring to the boil, cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve on top of the gammon steaks!
