Bread sauce for roast turkey

    I'm a stickler for tradition and have been cooking the same dishes at Christmas for years. My kids are grown up now but still look forward to our Christmas dinner every year.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 1 very small onion, peeled
    • 1 or 2 cloves
    • 240ml (1/2 pint) milk
    • 1 tablespoon cream
    • 50g freshly made fine breadcrumbs
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • Salt and white pepper

    Method

    1. Stick the cloves into the onion; place in a saucepan and pour over the milk. Bring to the boil, remove the onion and add the breadcrumbs. Heat through gently, adding the cream, butter, salt and pepper just before serving.
