Icing for gingerbread houses

    This recipe makes a large quantity of icing that is perfect for building gingerbread houses. You can use it for gingerbread men, too.

    Makes: 675 g icing

    • 625g icing sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
    • 3 egg whites

    1. Sift icing sugar and cream of tartar into a large bowl.
    2. With an electric mixer, start mixing on medium and add one egg white at a time, beating well after each addition. Continue beating until stiff peaks form.
    3. Scrape icing into a resealable freezer bag and squish it into one corner. Cut off a very small portion of the corner tip of the bag and you are ready to ice!
