Cheese and salmon tagliatelle

    A very tasty way to mix up your average meal. Poached salmon is tossed with cheese and tagliatelle pasta for a quick and easy meal.

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 to 4 salmon fillets
    • milk
    • 1 packet tagliatelle
    • cheese of your choice

    1. Put your salmon into a pan. Add enough boiling water and milk to cover the salmon. Put the hob on full heat. Leave for approx. 7 minutes or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork. Keep checking to see if the liquid has boiled down and add any more if needed. Keep warm.
    2. Put the tagliatelle into a pan. Put on enough boiling water to cover, and cook over high heat, stirring regularly to stop the tagliatelle from clumping together, about 5 minutes.
    3. While the tagliatelle is cooking, grate the cheese. How much you use depends on personal preference.
    4. When the tagliatelle is cooked, drain it. Make sure you do not have any water left. Put it back into the pan and quickly stir in the cheese and salmon. You have to make sure that you stir in the cheese whilst the pasta is still warm. If you don't, the cheese will not melt into the tagliatelle and salmon.
    5. Serve up and enjoy!

    Use for leftovers

    If you feel like it is a waste to throw away the milk that the salmon was cooked in, some people use this as a sauce. This largely depends on personal taste however.

    I added small florets of brocoli whilst cooking the pasta and thickened the milk to make a sauce ....was delicious  -  19 Feb 2015


    Perfect recipe for a student! Totally yums! I boiled down the milk to make a thick sauce n seasoned according to taste.  -  09 Apr 2013
