Grease a cake tin or fluted cake tin and put aside. Pre-heat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
Wash orange well, pat dry and puree it in your blender (seeds removed). Sift together flour and baking powder. In a mixing bowl beat together sugar and eggs till they're light yellow in colour and very fluffy. Slowly stir in oil, orange pulp, and when smooth, stir in flour. Pour into prepared tin.
Bake for about 55 - 60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted near the centre comes out clean. Cool cake in tin on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from tin and let cool completely.
Serve by itself, or
a) Sprinkle with icing sugar and decorate with oranges slices, or
b) Cover with orange glazing : blend together 125g icing sugar, 1 tsp grated orange rind and 2 tbsp orange juice, or
c) Make orange cream glazing: cream together 185g icing sugar, 1 tbsp grated orange rind, 30g soft butter and 1 1/2 tbsp orange juice.
d) You can also cover your cake with chocolate glazing.
