About this recipe: This is such a nice, light Christmas dessert if you don't fancy Christmas pudding. I look forward to making this every year and it's a lovely change from mince pies. I've included a pastry recipe but you could use readymade shortcrust pastry.

Was so disappointed with this. I made it exactly as described, but the filling , although browned and also left in for an extra 10 minutes, was soggy and undercooked. My oven is usually pretty good with temperature, so I don't know what went wrong. No time left now to get out for the extra ingredients, so will have to try again after Christmas. this is a regular due to its popularity. basically a bakewell tart made with mincemeat, I used a whole jar of mincemeat, and it is definitely one of my family's favourite sweet recipes. - 11 Mar 2015
