    Makes: 18 cookies

    • 100g (4 oz) margarine
    • 75g (3 oz) soft light brown sugar
    • 175g (6 oz) self raising flour
    • 100g (4 oz) chocolate chips
    • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
    • 2 tablespoons milk

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:5min cooling  ›  Ready in:25min

    1. First heat your oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease 1 to 2 baking trays.
    2. Then beat the margarine until soft, and then add the sugar, and cream together until light and fluffy.
    3. Then stir in the flour, chocolate chips, syrup and milk and mix well, till it becomes like a dough like form. (I find it easier to use my hands after I've mixed all the flour in the mix.)
    4. Last of all place spoonfuls of the mixture on the prepared trays and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Once cooked remove them from tray immediately and place them on a wire rack to cool (or a plate, but wire rack is better).

If the mixture is too sticky mix in some more flour until dough like again.

Easy to follow recipe but i used caster sugar instead, will use a lilttle less next time. also found that adding more flour made the mixture less soft therefore i could actually make into nice circles and flatten. They also kept their shape and didnt spread that much at all. Softer stickier mixture actually spread out a lot so spooning on is fine.  -  27 Feb 2012

I loved this recipe also this is egg-free as I am allergic to raw egg and I can't touch it so this recipe was great for me.  -  25 Jul 2016
