About this recipe:Edible chocolate bowls are a fantastic dessert to serve at dinner parties as they really have that wow factor! You can fill these chocolaty bowls with almost anything – ice cream, fresh fruits, jelly, pumpkin mousse (a great idea for Valentine's Day!) and as I'll show you, strawberry mousse. It's a great recipe that's fun and easy and will certainly impress your guests!
Blow up a balloon, depending on how large you want your bowl to be. I like my bowls to to be medium sized, so a bit larger than my cupped hand.
With sticky tape, stick the bottom of your balloon (the knot side) to the bottom of a bowl or ramekin and set aside.
Break up your chocolate into a microwavable bowl and place in the microwave for 3 to 4 minutes on medium and stir every 45 seconds so it doesn't burn.
Allow the chocolate to cool slightly then begin spooning the melted chocolate over your balloon from the centre top and around the circumference. Place your chocolate coated balloon in the fridge for 20 minutes to set.
For the strawberry mousse: Rinse your fruit. Reserve one strawberry for garnish, then slice the tops off the rest. Cut into chunks.
Pour the whipping cream into a mixing bowl with the strawberries, sugar and food colouring. Blitz the strawberry cream mixture until you achieve a light, fluffy 'mousse-y' texture.
Make a chocolate covered strawberry for garnish by taking the whole strawberry and dipping it in any remaining melted chocolate. Set in the fridge to harden.
When your chocolate has hardened, pop the balloon with a pin and gently pull the balloon out of the chocolate bowl.
Fill your bowl with the strawberry mousse and garnish with a chocolate covered strawberry.
For an extra-special touch, dip the strawberries in melted chocolate and let them set in the fridge along with the chocolate bowls.
