About this recipe: Shortbread biscuits perfect for any occasion. Using hand and foot shaped biscuit cutters makes them fun.

Serves: 11 

  • 125g butter
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 150g plain flour
  • 125g icing sugar, or as needed

Prep:40min  ›  Cook:11min  ›  Extra time:15min cooling  ›  Ready in:1hr6min 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Line 2 baking trays with grease proof paper.
  2. Mix together the butter and caster sugar, then sieve in the flour.
  3. Let dough rest for 20 minutes.
  4. Roll out the mixture on a flat surface then cut out hand and foot shapes with the cookie cutter and place on the trays.
  5. Bake until lightly golden, about 12 minutes. Leave to cool for about 10 minutes.
  6. Make the icing - sieve the icing sugar into a bowl and add a few drops of hot water to get the right consistency and add some food colouring.
  7. Spread the icing on your biscuits and add some decorations (optional).
