Halibut with rosemary, lemon and Chinese five spice

About this recipe: This halibut recipe is simple and full of great flavour. I love the taste of Chinese five spice with fish and seafood.


Serves: 4 

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 600g fresh halibut
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five spice
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 30g butter

  1. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium high heat, and add the halibut and rosemary. Cook the fish until it is lightly golden, opaque in the centre and flakes easily with a fork, about 5 minutes each side.
  2. Remove from the heat and sprinkle with five spice. Sprinkle on the lemon juice; add the butter on top. Return the pan to the heat until the butter melts, about 2 minutes more. Serve immediately.
