Veal pot roast with mushrooms

About this recipe: A good small roast veal makes nice dish to enjoy with friends or family. The whole dish is made in one frying pan, an easy and sumptuous dish.


Serves: 4 

  • 1 tablespoon salted butter
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 1 (1.5kg) veal roasting joint
  • 500g white mushrooms, sliced
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

  1. Melt butter in a large frying pan over low heat. Add shallot and fry for 3 minutes, until soft.
  2. Turn heat up to medium high and add the veal; brown veal on all sides for about 3 minutes per side.
  3. Reduce heat to low and add mushrooms, salt and pepper. Cover and let simmer for 45 minutes. Remove cover and cook for another 15 minutes so that the sauce thickens.
