    Butter vanilla aroma gives these German Christmas biscuits their special flavour. You can find the aroma in online stores.

    Serves: 30 

    • 125g butter, softened
    • 1 vanilla bean, seeds scraped
    • 50g icing sugar
    • 60g plain flour
    • 125g cornflour
    • 3 drops butter vanilla aroma (can be found online)
    • 1 to 2 tablespoons ice cold water

    1. In a bowl beat butter und vanilla seeds till creamy. In another bowl mix flour, icing sugar and cornflour. Mix the butter vanilla aroma 1 to 2 tablespoons ice cold water, then add all ingredients together and stir well to combine. The mixture will be very sticky. Place it in a container with a lid and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
    2. Preheat your oven to 175 C / Gas 4. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
    3. Shape the mixture into 30 equally sized balls and place them on the baking tray with ample distance between them.
    4. Press flat using a the tines of a fork dipped in flour.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven till lightly colored, about 10 to 12 minutes. Transfer from the baking tray to a wire rack at once. Let cool on a cake rack and dust with icing sugar.
