You may know the classic cherry clafoutis, but this French dessert is made with a variety of other fruits as well. This recipe comes from Normandy, where the apples are especially delicious!

Ingredients
Serves: 8
3 apples - cored, peeled and sliced
60g caster sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
250ml milk
100ml double cream
icing sugar for dusting (optional)

Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6. Butter a baking dish and place apple slices in bottom of dish.
In a bowl mix together sugar, eggs and vanilla, then add milk and cream and and mix well. Pour mixture over apples.
Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes or until clafoutis is nicely browned. If desired, dust with icing sugar before serving.
Idea
Add a splash of calvados to the mixture before baking to complement the apples. Serve dusted just with icing sugar, or a combination of icing sugar and ground cinnamon.
