Pork ribs in gravy

    These pork ribs in gravy are made simply with just a few ingredients. Great for a pretty fuss free midweek supper.

    Serves: 4 

    • 800g pork ribs
    • salt and pepper, to taste
    • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 2 onions, sliced
    • 235ml water
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 4 to 5 allspice berries

    1. Rinse and chop the ribs into 5cm strips. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
    2. Heat the oil in a frying pan, fry the ribs on both sides until well browned. Add the onion, cook until translucent.
    3. Pour in the water, add bay leaves and allspice, cover and simmer for 40 minutes. Season to taste and serve with a little of the pan juices.
