Easy student potato wedges

    45 min

A recipe from my student days. Instead of buying wedges, why not make them yourself? Loads of different seasonings can be used and spuds are as cheap as chips . . . literally!

    Serves: 1

    • 1 baking potato
    • 2 tablespoons seasoning, your choice
    • a splash olive oil

    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:45min

    1. Preheat the oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
    2. You can either peel the potato or not - it's up to you! Either way, wash the potato and cut in half widthways. Face the cut side down and slice thickly to make wedges.
    3. Choose a seasoning such as paprika, garlic salt, mixed herbs, or curry powder. Pour the seasoning into a bowl, and coat the potato wedges lightly.
    4. Place them on a baking tray and drizzle lightly with oil.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven until brown and crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, about 30 minutes, depending on your oven.

Easy to prepare my results weren't so good though I think they could have had longer in the oven or hotter even after 40 minutes they where still a little bit hard.  -  21 May 2012

Cut wedges. Boil for 5-7 mins (water should be boiling before starting to time). Strain, then put in baking tray, a touch of oil to coat (I like a bit of piri piri seasoning sprinkled over but any seasoning will do then bake for 25-30 mins at 190 deg C for fan oven or 10 mins more for non fan. Tasty!  -  13 Feb 2017

Easier to put your seasoning, oil & wedges into a plastic bag & give them a shake to coat. I found it took 60 mins for them to cook. Thanks for posting.  -  05 Aug 2013
