About this recipe: This delicious bulgur wheat, pear and Gorgonzola salad is easy to make and at its best when served warm.


Serves: 4 

  • 140g bulgur wheat
  • 1 ripe pear, cored and sliced thinly
  • 1 pepper, seeded and cut into strips
  • 1 stick celery, sliced thinly
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 150g Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
  • 1 bunch coriander, finely chopped

  1. Place the bulgur wheat in a saucepan and cover with 2 glasses of water (about 640ml), bring to the boil over a high heat then cover, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes until tender and the water has been absorbed. Remove from the heat, fluff with a fork and turn out into a salad bowl.
  2. To the bulgur wheat add the pear, pepper, celery, olive oil and cheese and toss thoroughly. Sprinkle with finely chopped fresh coriander and serve warm.


If you would rather, you can substitute the bulgur wheat for rice, or quinoa.
