About this recipe: I made these Breton butter biscuits, also known as sablés Bretons or palets Bretons, for my son a few days ago. He loved them! This crumbly biscuit is particular to Brittany, and really easy to make and delicious to eat.


Serves: 4 

  • 100g plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 75g butter, softened
  • 60g caster sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg yolks

  1. In a medium mixing bowl combine baking powder with flour then add butter, sugar and salt. Mix well until you have the consistency of a pastry. Add egg yolks and mix well.
  2. Divide mixture in muffin tin cups to .5cm height in each cup. Cover and chill in the fridge for 1 hour.
  3. Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6 and bake biscuits for 13 to 15 minutes, until they are a light golden brown.
