Scrumptious chocolate and pear tart

    This is just heavenly! If you have a chocoholic in the family, try this tart. It's simple to make, looks stunning and tastes scrumptious.

    Serves: 8 

    • 150g plain chocolate
    • 2 eggs
    • 25ml single cream
    • 1 sweet shortcrust pastry case
    • 1 ripe pear - peeled, cored and sliced; or tin of sliced pears
    • 1 tablespoon caster sugar, or as needed

    1. Preheat oven to 190 C / Gas 5.
    2. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over hot water (or in the microwave). Allow to cool slightly, then beat in the eggs (if you don't allow the chocolate to cool, the eggs could separate or scramble!). Fold in the cream.
    3. Spread the chocolate mixture on the bottom of the pie crust.
    4. Place the pear slices on top of the chocolate spread. Sprinkle with caster sugar to glaze.
    5. Bake until the pears are golden brown, about 25 minutes. Allow to cool, serve and enjoy.
