Fried chicken hearts with mushrooms

    25 min

Chicken hearts are quick to cook, and if you combine them with mushrooms you’ll get a wonderful meal.

    Serves: 4

    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 1 onion, minced
    • 500g chicken hearts, quartered lengthways
    • 250g button mushrooms, quartered or sliced
    • salt and pepper, to taste

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min

    1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Add the onion and cook and stir until soft, about 4 to 6 minutes. Add the hearts and brown them for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Cover, reduce heat and cook for about 10 minutes until no longer pink in the centre.
    2. Combine mushrooms with hearts, mix well. Cook covered for another 5 minutes then season. Serve hot over toast or with vegetables.

Enjoyed this recipe. The only adjustment I had to make was the cooking time of the chicken hearts because they go tough quickly. Instead of salt I would highly recommend using fish sauce. YUM!!  -  25 Jun 2018  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

Thank you ever soo much. When I follow a recipe, I FOLLOW that recipe. If I add or subtract , then it's a whole different recipe, soo I did as this recipe said, & it was SPOT ON! Never better. I make chicken hearts a lot, in butter, or oil, like it says, but the mushrooms really added that extra great flavor. Onion is always great of course, , But this is a wonderful recipe. Thank you again. Cheers . From N.V.  -  03 Jun 2018  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
