Fried chicken hearts with mushrooms


    Chicken hearts are quick to cook, and if you combine them with mushrooms you’ll get a wonderful meal.

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 1 onion, minced
    • 500g chicken hearts, quartered lengthways
    • 250g button mushrooms, quartered or sliced
    • salt and pepper, to taste

    1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Add the onion and cook and stir until soft, about 4 to 6 minutes. Add the hearts and brown them for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Cover, reduce heat and cook for about 10 minutes until no longer pink in the centre.
    2. Combine mushrooms with hearts, mix well. Cook covered for another 5 minutes then season. Serve hot over toast or with vegetables.
