Method Prep:10min › Cook:10min › Extra time:10min › Ready in:30min
Preheat the oven to 190 C / Gas 5.
Beat together the butter, vanilla extract and sugar in a large bowl with a wooden spoon. Add in the egg yolk and beat.
Sieve the flour into the bowl, and then add the salt and chocolate chips. Stir the mixture until everything is mixed together.
Divide the mixture into 12 for large chewy cookies and 20 for smaller crispy cookies.
Roll each portion into a ball and place onto a greased or parchment-lined baking tray, with about 2cm between each cookie. Slightly flatten each with the palm of your hand. Press the large chunks of chocolate into the tops of the cookies
Bake for 10 minutes and then leave to cool on the baking tray for a further 15 minutes.
@chocolate1co - did you measure out the ingredients precisely? perhaps your oven was the wrong temperature? my first guess would be that you didn't add enough flour and so the cookies spread out, but also the temperature was too high. if the cookies turned out like crumbs, try cooking at a lower temperature and for a shorter time. - 12 Feb 2013
Instead of chocolate chips I used galaxy and dairy milk cut up into chunks , although they defiantly take longer than 10 mins if you are making larger cookies the look , smell ,and taste amazing and very easy to make I love this recipe x - 10 Apr 2014
