Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. In a large bowl combine all the ingredients for the base until dough forms. Press evenly into the bottom of a rectangular dish.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, for the brownie, melt the 110g butter or margarine with the chocolate and stir so it is smooth. In a separate large bowl, mix together eggs, sugar, almond extract and red colouring until smooth, then add in chocolate mixture and stir well.
Sieve in the 100g plain flour and mix until combined fully. Pour on top of base.
Bake until a skewer inserted near the centre of the brownie comes out clean, 40 to 50 minutes.
