Cinnamon apple jam

    Autumn apples shine in this simple jam flavoured with cinnamon. Use your favourite variety of local apples, or those from your own tree if you're lucky!

    Makes: 3 to 4 jars

    • 1kg golden apples - washed, cored and chopped
    • 800g jam sugar with pectin
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    • 50ml water

    1. Place chopped apples, jam sugar, cinnamon and water in a large ceramic pot; stir well. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat to low; cover and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 45 minutes.
    2. Ladle jam into sterilised jars. Seal and turn jars upside down for a short time. Turn jars right way up, leave overnight and then store jam in a dry area away from direct light.
