Four-ingredient white bread for the bread machine

    I have been making bread in my bread machine for years and recently resorted to mixes in desperation but I have this simple recipe that makes the best bread - no fuss, no bother.

    Makes: 1 large loaf

    • 350ml water
    • 500g strong white bread flour
    • 1 1/4 teaspoons fine sea salt
    • 1 teaspoon easybake yeast

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:4hr  ›  Ready in:4hr5min 

    1. Put all ingredients into your breadmaker in the order from your instruction book. Mine is always liquid first then dry ingredients keeping salt and yeast to separate parts of pan. Switch on - my settings are basic, large and med crust.


    I find my electric knife is great at slicing fresh bread. It is important that you use the measuring spoon that came with your breadmaker or results can be different.

    Did this on the timer setting on my machine so it would be ready first thing, makes a lovely loaf, definitely agree that an electric knife would be best as it's a bit too crusty to slice thinly by hand. Very tasty, will make this again.  -  14 Aug 2012


    Love this simply easy recipe, I no longer buy bread it's just as quick to add these 4 ingredients to my bread maker,3 hours later its done, and it's yummy and perfect. I find if you have to many ingredients like butter milk water it comes out to stodgy n doesn't rise.  -  01 Jun 2013
