    About this recipe: Delicious cheese and tomato swirls great for a picnic, lunch or a party treat! You can get creative and add your own touches, like fresh herbs, dried herbs, chilli flakes, chopped bacon or chorizo.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 12 swirls

    • 1 sheet shop-bought puff pastry
    • flour for rolling
    • 1 to 3 tablespoons tomato puree
    • 1/2 onion, chopped
    • 100g grated cheese
    • 3 tablespoons milk (to glaze)

    Method
    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:30min 

    1. Roll out the pastry to a rectangle shape (use flour if it is a little sticky).
    2. Spread with the tomato puree as if you were making a pizza. Sprinkle on the onions and the cheese.
    3. Roll the sheet of pastry so it looks like a 'yule log'. Mark the pastry 1 finger space apart all along the log shape, then cut where you have marked.
    4. Lay the swirls on a parchment-lined tray about 2cm away from each other and glaze with the milk.
    5. Bake in the oven at 220 C / Gas 7 for about 20 minutes. Leave to cool and enjoy!!

    Tip

    Add what you want as toppings, but not too much as it will unravel!
