About this recipe: This homemade crab dip is a warm tasty dish. It gets a little kick from mustard and cayenne. Serve warm with a French stick.

Serves: 4 

  • 3 shallots, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 80g butter
  • 110ml cream
  • 150g cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Worcester sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh tarragon
  • 70g grated Cheddar cheese
  • 300g crabmeat
  • 60g dried white breadcrumbs

  1. In a pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add garlic and shallots and cook till soft.
  2. Add cream, cream cheese, mustard, cayenne, lemon juice, Worcester sauce, tarragon, salt and pepper. Once creamy, stir in the grated Cheddar. Once melted, stir in the crabmeat.
  3. Tip mixture into an ovenproof dish and cover with breadcrumbs.
  4. Bake in a preheated 180 C / Gas 4 oven till golden and bubbly.
