Chocolate chip cookies are a favourite of mine. I like to add oats to give them a coarser texture.

Makes: 45 cookies
170g unsalted butter, at room temperature
180g caster sugar
1 tablespoon treacle
170g plain flour
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
300g milk chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 190 C / Gas 5. Line baking trays with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix butter, sugar and treacle together until creamy. Add flour, oats, milk, egg, vanilla, baking powder, cinnamon and salt; mix until well combined. The dough should be quite stiff. Fold in chocolate chips.
Spoon the mixture onto the lined baking trays, about 1 heaped teaspoon per cookie. Leave enough room in between each cookie as they will spread during baking.
Depending on how you like your cookies (soft or crispy), bake them for 10-14 minutes.
Allow the cookies to cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
You might have to bake them in batches depending on the size of your baking tray.
