This is a classic dish from my childhood and my mother always enjoyed making it for us. I still like it and make it for my own kids now if I'm running a bit short on time.

500g pasta, of your choice
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons butter
150g ham, diced
1/2 bag frozen sweet peas, thawed
salt and pepper, to taste
grated Parmesan cheese, to taste

In a large saucepan of boiling salted water cook the pasta according to directions on the packet.
Meanwhile melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large frying pan and quickly cook and stir the garlic. Add the ham and brown for a few minutes. Pour in a ladle of the pasta water add the peas and bring to a simmer. Cook for a few minutes, then add the other tablespoon of butter.
Drain pasta and add into the frying pan. Toss, season with salt and pepper to taste and serve with Parmesan cheese sprinkled generously on top.
