About this recipe: The steak tartare is quick to make and always a classic. Use best quality mince and serve as a starter or main.


Serves: 4 

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon capers
  • 1 tablespoon chopped red onion
  • 4 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • To serve
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon capers
  • lemon slices
  • 1 tablespoon chopped red onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon mustard seeds

  1. In a large bowl, mix the beef with the parsley, capers and onion. Add the lemon juice, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Mix together gently.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4 meatballs and place them in the middle of serving plates. Make an indentation in the centre of each meatball and place 1 yolk in each.
  3. Sprinkle each portion with the capers, lemon slices, onion, parsley and mustard seeds. Serve immediately.
