About this recipe:I've been wondering for ages, how to make a jaffa cake with orange glaze icing? Then I remembered my nan's mum's recipe my mum gave me. This is a lovely chocolate cake, which orange bursts out just at the end! I hope you enjoy!!
Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Lightly grease a deep 20cm round tin and line the base with baking parchment. Sift the flour and cocoa into a large bowl, then stir in sugar.
Add the egg, milk, melted butter and 1 tablespoon of orange zest and beat with electric beaters for 2 minutes, or until well combined and smooth. Pour into the prepared tin.
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean. Turn out onto a wire rack and cool for 5 to 6 minutes.
Whilst the cake's cooling, you can begin on the icing. Combine the icing sugar, butter, zest and enough of the juice to make a soft pouring consistency. Stand the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water and stir until the icing is smooth and glossy. Remove from the heat. Drizzle over the cake and let it run down the sides.
