Magic mug chocolate cake

    This is a student recipe for a quick and easy chocolate cake, made in minutes in the microwave and eaten hot. Very indulgent!

    Serves: 1 

    • 4 tablespoons plain flour
    • 4 tablespoons sugar
    • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder or hot chocolate powder
    • 1 medium egg
    • 3 tablespoons milk
    • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 3 tablespoons chocolate chips

    Prep:3min  ›  Cook:3min  ›  Ready in:6min 

    1. Add all ingredients (apart from the chocolate chips) to a very large mug and mix well.
    2. Add the chocolate chips and fold in gently.
    3. Microwave in the mug for: 4 minutes at 650-750 watts; 3 minutes at 750-1000 watts; or 2 minutes at 1000+ watts.
    4. Allow to sit in the microwave for a minute before removing - it will be piping hot.
    5. Serve with double cream and fresh strawberries for an indulgent and beautiful dessert, or straight from the mug for a naughty midnight treat!

    Best mug cake I have ever made! Dense, chocolaty, rich, & yummy! It didn't have a spongy texture at all that you sometimes get from mug cakes. I used mini chocolate chips and they worked perfectly. I sprayed my cup with a little baking spray and it popped right out after baking. Mine cooked about 3-1/2 minutes and was perfect.  -  17 Feb 2015
