About this recipe:
This is a traditional recipe for a Garam Masala spice mix. It's used in many Indian dishes. You can make it in advance and store if for a few months in an air-tight container.
1 tablespoon cardamom seeds
1 teaspoon black peppercorns
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 stick of cinnamon, smashed up
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- You can do it the easy way... or the hard way. EASY: Pop all the ingredients into a clean, dry coffee grinder or spice grinder and gind into a very fine powder
- HARD: Put all the ingredients into a pestle and mortar and grind for 20 minutes till it reaches a fine powdery consistency.
- Store the powder in a dry, airtight container.
