4 whole cloves
1/2L cranberry juice
1L red wine
1 cinnamon stick
4 star anise
2-3 cardamom pods

Wash and dry the orange; insert cloves into the orange. Place into a saucepan and pour in cranberry juice and red wine. Add cinnamon stick, star anise and cardamom pods. Slowly heat up, but don't bring to the boil.
Just before boiling, remove from the heat and stir in sugar to taste. Pour wine through a sieve and fill into mugs. Serve hot.
