Spicy turkey burgers and homemade chunky wedges

About this recipe: A favourite in our house, these are slightly spicy turkey burgers served with oven-baked potato wedges.

Serves: 4 

  • 500g turkey mince
  • 1 tablespoon tikka spices
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons mixed herbs
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 6 large potatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried chilli flakes
  • FryLight®, for cooking

    To make the burgers:

  1. Add together in a bowl the turkey mince, all the herbs and spices and the garlic. Mix well with hands then split the mixture into 4 and shape into burgers. Leave in the fridge to be cooked later.
  2. For the wedges:

  3. Boil a large pan of salted water. Cut potatoes into quarters, then cut each quarter in half to make the wedges. At this point turn the oven on to 180 C / Gas 4. Add the wedges to the water and boil for 10 to 15minutes, then drain.
  4. Spray a large baking tray evenly with FryLight®, then spread wedges evenly on baking tray. At this point I normally sprinkle black pepper, cayenne pepper and mixed herbs over the wedges, but this is optional. Spray the top of the wedges with FryLight® and put into the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Fry the burgers in FryLight® for around 10 to 15 minutes. Always check the inside of the burgers before serving.

Serving ideas

Serve with sauces and seasonings of your choice. I normally serve the burgers on wholemeal baps with a little cheese, salad and light mayonnaise. I also put coleslaw on the side. Hope you enjoy this recipe.
