Sausage pie

    1 hour

A no-frills, simple sausage pie that's oh-so comforting and delicious. Use shop-bought pastry for a shortcut, if desired, but this pastry is rather foolproof - it just requires a bit of kneading.

    • Filling
    • 450g (1 lb) sausagemeat

    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:45min  ›  Ready in:1hr

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
    2. Sift flour into a large mixing bowl, add salt and rub in fat till the mixture looks like breadcrumbs. Knead until a firm dough forms and divide in 2 parts. Line a 18x28cm (7x11 in) Swiss roll tin with one pastry piece.
    3. Mix together all the ingredients for the filling and place into pastry case.
    4. Roll out the other half of the pastry and place on top of the pie. Brush with milk.
    5. Bake for 45 minutes or until well browned.

Instead of one large pie, make smaller individual pies. The individual pies are not only portable, but also easier to freeze!

I made this Sausage Pie with Morrisons sausages and Just Roll pastry for a quick family meal. It was lovely and I had clean plates and the kids asking for seconds! Thanks!  -  11 Jun 2016
