Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease a 450g (1 lb) loaf tin.
In a large bowl beat together the margarine and sugar until thick and creamy. Add the eggs, one at a time and beat until creamy. Sift in the flour followed by the remaining ingredients and mix well. Transfer to the prepared loaf tin.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until a wooden skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before slicing and enjoying.
