Cook the spaghetti in salted boiling water, according to packet instructions.
Heat a bit of oil in a large pan and add the onions. Cook until soft. Add the bacon, stirring with a fork to separate the pieces. Once the bacon is cooked, add the garlic and passata. Rinse the passata container with a small amount of water, and add that in. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Toss the spaghetti with the sauce and serve.
Add salt only if required as some bacon pieces can be salty. I usually pay 75p - £1 for mine, value spaghetti 30p, passata 35p and garlic and onions is usually about 30p for both. This works out at about 50p per person. Freezes well.
