Pasta with broad beans, garden peas and bacon

    A simple, summery pasta dish that you can make with any small rice-shaped pasta shape, such as orzo.

    Serves: 4 

    • 150g orzo or risoni pasta
    • 75g broad beans
    • 75g shelled baby garden peas
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 3 rashers unsmoked streaky bacon, chopped
    • 1 clove garlic, peeled and sliced
    • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

    1. Cook the pasta in salted boiling water according to package directions, drain. Add the broad beans and peas during the last 2 minutes of cooking.
    2. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the bacon until crisp, 7 to 10 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 2 additional minutes. Toss with drained pasta and beans; season to taste with salt and fresh black pepper.
