    Nice tasty beef stew cooked with veg and potatoes. Made in the slow cooker, this beef stew is guaranteed tender.

    Serves: 6 

    • 800g diced beef
    • 300g carrots, chopped
    • 200g garden peas
    • 1/4 swede, diced
    • 3 medium potatoes, diced
    • 1 big red onion, chopped
    • 850ml beef stock (2 cubes)
    • 8 grinds black pepper
    • 2 pinches sea salt
    • 3/4 teaspoon dried thyme
    • 70g plain flour
    • 350ml cold water

    1. Chop up the veg, and add to warming slow cooker along with the beef, and give it a good mix around.
    2. Make stock up and pour in, give it a good stir round. Add salt, pepper and thyme stir it around again.
    3. Make up the flour paste: slowly add cold water to the flour, mixing it to creamy paste, then add it to slow cooker and stir well. It will still seem watery, but thickens up as time goes on.
    4. Set the slow cooker to low and leave for 8 hours, stirring occasionally if possible.
    5. Serve with fresh sliced French loaf - lovely.

    Absolutely delicious. Out of the few recipes I've tried for beef casserole in the slow cooker, this is by far the easiest and the tastiest. only thing I did different was to add some bistro powder in the last hour to add more flavour  -  20 Feb 2013

    Great recipe to follow, I used a few different ingredients and missed a few out to suit my family's taste. But overall a fantastic stew recipe, with empty plates all around even after 2nds 😊  -  25 Jan 2015
