    Ingredients
    Makes: 1 cake

    • 140g plain flour
    • 40g cocoa powder
    • 170g caster sugar
    • 170g butter, softened
    • 4 dessertspoons milk
    • 3 eggs
    • 3 teaspoons baking powder
    • Butter icing
    • 30g butter, softened
    • 110g icing sugar
    • 1 tablespoon cocoa
    • 1 teaspoon coffee granules
    • Topping
    • 100g milk or dark chocolate, melted and cooled

    Method

      Chocolate cake:

    1. Sieve flour, cocoa and baking powder into a mixing bowl; add sugar, milk, eggs and softened butter. Beat well until combined; pour cake mixture into prepared cake tins.
    2. Sandwich the two cakes together with chocolate buttercream; pour melted chocolate on top and let drizzle down the sides. Allow to set before serving.
    3. Beat butter, icing sugar, cocoa, coffee and 1 teaspoon hot water together in a bowl until combined and smooth.
