Walnut and date loaf

    A simple walnut and date loaf cake that tastes divine on it's own but even better buttered!

    Makes: 1 loaf

    • 600g plain flour
    • 225g brown sugar
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 355ml milk
    • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
    • 1 egg, beaten
    • 85g chopped dates
    • 60g chopped walnuts

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease a loaf tin.
    2. Combine the flour, sugar and baking powder in a bowl. Stir in the milk, butter and beaten egg. Fold in dates and walnuts; pour mixture into prepared tin.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven until a skewer inserted into the centre of the loaf comes out clean, about 60 minutes.
