85g butter, softened
85g caster sugar
1 heaped tablespoon Bournville cocoa powder
110g plain flour

Method Prep:15min › Cook:25min › Ready in:40min
Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease and line a shallow traybake tin.
Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy; stir in cocoa. Sieve flour and add to the butter mixture. Beat egg and vanilla extract together, then add to the butter mixture. Stir in milk and baking powder; spread mixture into prepared tin.
Bake in the preheated oven until springy; about 25 minutes. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
To prepare the icing, place chocolate and water in a pan; melt over a gentle heat. Add sugar and beat to make it shiny. Spread over cooled cake with a knife dipped in hot water; slice into fingers about 3cm wide.
