About this recipe:
These meringues are light and tender and excellent when filled with a mixture of sweetened cream and crushed strawberries or raspberries.
3 egg whites
150g (6 oz) caster sugar
Additional caster sugar for sifting
- Preheat the oven to 140 C / Gas mark 4. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Whip the egg whites until very stiff; fold in sugar. Shape meringue mixture with a dessertspoon and scoop out with another spoon; lay mixture on prepared tin. Sift caster sugar over meringues.
- Bake in the preheated oven until meringues are firm, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Turned out perfectly
