About this recipe: A Mediterranean twist on a Mexican favourite. Full of sunshine and flavour. A delight at any time of the year.


Serves: 6 

  • 450g chicken breast, cut into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 red pepper, chopped
  • 1 handful of fresh coriander, torn
  • Marinade
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 6 tablespoons red wine
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 150ml fresh lime juice
  • 80ml tequila (optional)
  • 1 green or red chilli, seeded and finely chopped (optional)
  • To serve
  • 12 flour tortillas
  • 125ml soured cream

  1. Mix all marinade ingredients together, add chicken strips, cover and marinate in fridge 1 to 2 hours or overnight if possible.
  2. Heat the oil in a large frying pan, add the onion and cook and stir on medium-low heat for 5 minutes or so or until soft but not coloured.
  3. Add peppers, most of the coriander, chicken and as much marinade you wish. Cook and stir until meat is cooked, about 5 to 8 minutes.
  4. Serve in dish garnished with rest of coriander, accompanied by hot tortilla wraps and soured cream.


Can also serve with salsa roja, guacamole and salad. You can also use flank steak, cut into strips, instead of chicken.
