Cheddar fondue

    Everyone loves a good fondue! This Cheddar fondue is great for pleasing kids and guests alike. It is not too strong in flavour and has the perfect dipping consistency.

    Serves: 4 

    • 450g (1 lb) Cheddar cheese, diced
    • 2 tablespoons plain flour
    • 275ml (10 fl oz) milk
    • 1 teaspoon grated onion or shallot
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
    • salt, to taste
    • 2 loaves French bread, cut into cubes

    1. Dust the cheese in the flour. Heat the milk in a fondue pot and add the onion; bring milk to a near boil. Lower the heat to medium and stir in the cheese, a handful at a time, continuing to heat and stir with a wooden spoon until cheese has melted. Lower the heat, add Worcestershire sauce, cayenne and salt to taste.
    2. Serve hot with French bread for dipping.
