Simple butter toffee

    This recipe is for a delicious melt in your mouth toffee with a mouth watering after taste!

    Ingredients
    Serves: 20 

    • 450g butter
    • 1/2 teaspoon hot chocolate powder (not cocoa)
    • 320g caster sugar

    Method
    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:1hr cooling  ›  Ready in:1hr15min 

    1. Measure out all the ingredients above. Put all the ingredients into a heavy saucepan.
    2. Heat at a medium heat till it is a liquid and keep stirring.
    3. Once combined and the sugar is dissolved, pour the mixture into a baking tray (greased beforehand). Put in a fridge for half an hour to an hour to set and cool.
    4. Cut up and serve.

    Don't know what I did wrong but it turned out to be a sickly gooey mess - I put it in the fridge at 4.15pm and it would not set in the time mentioned - so I put it in the Freezer over night - and unfortunately it still hadn't set - so I had waste it - which made me very cross, However to me they tasted just like Werther's Originals. It would have been nice to know how long you were mean't to be stirring the ingredients.  -  26 May 2017
