About this recipe: These chocolate chip cookies have double the chocolate! Cocoa powder and chocolate chips make for an extra tasty chewy and moist cookie. Add walnuts if you like an extra crunch.


Serves: 48 

  • 225g butter, softened
  • 300g caster sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 250g plain flour
  • 55g cocoa powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 325g semisweet chocolate chips
  • 60g chopped walnuts (optional)

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
  2. Beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Combine flour, cocoa, bicarb and salt in a small bowl; stir into butter mixture until well blended. Mix in chocolate chips and walnuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking trays.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until just set, 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly on the baking trays before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Was halfway through making these with my 5yr old when I realised it was for 48 lol 😱 didn't come out very cookie like but tasted fab x - 24 Sep 2016


I made my cookies bigger and cooked them for a little longer, so they had less chew and more crunch--maybe too much crunch, admittedly--but they taste great. Nice and chocolatey! - 26 Oct 2015
